HEALTH! A new category!

October 30, 2009

My wonderful mom died from a heart attack in 1991. If she wore a “Life Alert” pendent or knew the following information, she would have seen my children growing up. A friend of mine just sent me in Hebrew what Dr. Joseph Martinez, MD had said about the symptoms of a heart attack and what to do about it. I am a psychologist and a nurse, not a cardiologist or a physician. The new HEALTH category that I am adding today to this blog is strictly for educational purposes. Please consult with your physician for any medical issues.

Dr. Martinez describes the symptoms of a heart attach as pain in the left arm and chin, dizziness and sweat. He suggests to take two aspiring with a little water, sit down (not lay down) and call for help.

Value clarification

October 28, 2009

In 1977 I was a psychological intern in a Los Angeles clinic. I  entered my boss’s office. He was giving ‘divorce counseling’ to Julie Brown, a young divorcee when his ex-wife barged in shouting, “George, where is my alimony check for December?” He wrote her the check immediately. After his ex-wife and his female patient left, I said, “Dr. Smith, I am willing to take over Julie’s divorce case. Don’t you think you should suspend giving divorce counseling for a while.”  He looked at me and smiled, “Dr. Kinarthy, my own divorce makes me a better therapist.”

I didn’t think so.

What do you think?

Investing 101

October 5, 2009

The process is slow. You can speed it up by buying my book THE PSYCHOLOGY OF INVESTING and follow the instructions. I will be available to answer your questions on investing with my method if you need a clarification. My suggestion is that you explore within yourself the following:

1. Does your personality fit more with independent investing or with mutual funds?

2. Does your personality fits more with maverick investing or with conventional investing?

3. Does your personality fit with the personality of an investing coach like me? I am direct, instructive, PERSONAL, opinionated, different, maverick and I break rules. To find out if you fit my exciting style you have to read my postings not only on WordPress but also on http://www.drelk.blogspot.com, http://www.cancer-vcrc.org, and my postings on FACEBOOK and TWEETER.

4. It’s a commitment. It’s a commitment to yourself to be patient until my one man operation expands. I won’t stop short of a revolution in thinking about investing, your importance in life, your relationships, the planet. I need your help to turn things around.

5. I am starting INVESTING 101 by training 10 individuals free of charge in my home in British Columbia. Our first meeting is on October 18th. If you can’t all be here physically, be with me in the spirit. Let me know as soon as you read ALL my ‘stuff” on my various blogs, websites or emails if you want to be a part of my internet investing club. DON’T SAY ‘YES’ BEFORE YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE A BUDDING COMMITMENT TO  A  BETTER WAY OF THINKING ABOUT MONEY, RELATIONSHIPS, HEALTH, AND ENTERTAINMENT THAN BEFORE. LIFE IS TOO SHORT JUST FOR ‘SMALL TALK.’
