Augmenting health the fun easy way.

April 29, 2014

I parked my car some distance and walked into the store. I shop at Costco about twice a month. Walking through the vitamin area I saw a lady picking up a 3-6-9 Omega oil bottle, apparently not knowing that only the Omega 3 and 9 of the trio fights cancer while the Omega 6 promote it! I didn’t say anything to the lady, it’s none of my business what people do to themselves, but when I got home I cooked my usual hot cereal and added 2 heaping spoonfuls of Chia seeds loaded with Omega 3 only, that I picked up at the same store on the same day (By the way, next to me was standing the same lady picking up a more expensive Chia blend, a combination of 4 grains with Chia being the least amount). I still didn’t say anything to her but I murmured to myself, “My God, lady, it’s so easy to augment your health, why don’t you start doing it ?”

What is the moral of this experience that I had at Costco last week? I am not sure because I don’t want to believe that some shoppers are stupid, I’d rather believe they are not educated the value way? Or may be just not paying attention? I finally settled on Dr. Kahneman research, this august Nobel price winner (2002) calls these shoppers, well, not uninformed, not stupid, not even uneducated, not anything…just lazy to think, well, may be that is the psychological answer…just too lazy to think… on the way to the grave too early. I hope the Costco lady reads this posting but I doubt she will, you see, you are the fortunate one, you are not lazy to search the internet for the right blog!

In the last segment I described to you in the form of a quiz what Omega 3 can do for your health. Let’s have even a better quiz, just one question that I challenge you to answer correctly. If you do, pat yourself on the back, you are one in a million who can do more for yourself in the area of healing your body: What is the average intake ratio of the cancer causing and artery clogging Omega 6 to Omega 3 the incredible preventer of cancer and hearth attack? Is it 1/5, 2/1, 1/3, 1/1, 20/1, 1/20, 35/24, 50/40, 40/20, 2/2, 2/3,  3/1, 1/3, 1/26, 26/1, undetermined, depends on your diet, not important.

The answer is 1:26. Let’s accept any other answer around 1:26 such as 1:20. Please respond if you won, it’s rare!

Let’s have another quiz: What is the only natural food on earth that packs a ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 of 1/3? Please respond if you you use it. You are a big winner in the health or healing ares.

If you think that I am ‘bragging’ about my looks by asking you to visit my website and stare at my portrait at age 73, you miss the point my daughter Deena made in a conversation.

“I want to start taking vitamins, dad.”

“I want to look my best and feel great.”

You can see that she is also good-looking, on my, the website I created after curing my prostate cancer, and if you think that I am  ‘bragging’ again,  you miss the point twice. I just want to let you know dramatically that taking vitamins helps your looks – a lot!

As a health psychologist and a writer, I will give you my healing tips laced with riddles, in ‘widgets’ to keep you interested, because many young people today ‘jump’ ship the moment they hear the command ‘Take your vitamins.”

Omega-3, vitamin E, cod liver oil and shark liver oil got together to protect an artery from the bad ‘sticky’ guys. They lined up on the insides of the walls waiting for their saturated fat enemy. They didn’t have to wait very long. The bacon, steak, and donuts released their bad cholesterol on the way to the heart and the brain, looking for a spot to land. The defenders were waiting. The saturated oils couldn’t get a hold of the slippery slopes  –  kicked out of the blood vessel. The girl lost weight, her arteries got cleared and she felt good. 🙂

“Then why did she quit?”

“It didn’t make sense to her. She thought all oil was bad.”
